Strategic resolution implemented as planned. Group aligned with four business units to growing areas of business (medicine, industry, mobility, technology services). New processes and structures allow for stronger international market and customer focus.
Berlin, April 2, 2014 – Right on time on March 31, 2014, after a three-month transitional phase, First Sensor implemented the steps that were planned in December 2013 and completed the announced changes to its organizational structure. Consequently, the Group’s organization and structure is now aligned to the following four rapidly growing business areas: medicine, industry, mobility and technology services. “We now have the ideal strategic positioning to achieve our objective. We want to become one of the market leaders in all areas of business within the next five years,” maintains Dr. Martin U. Schefter, CEO of First Sensor AG.
Over the past three months, the necessary personnel and professional responsibilities as well as key processes were defined. With immediate effect, the business units (BUs) are now responsible for constantly ensuring that products are focused on the right markets and customers in their respective business areas. The systematic expansion of the sales teams in Europe, Asia and North America is another essential requirement for business unit management. “We have aligned ourselves to markets with high added value and attractive margins in which we already supply top technologies. It is now time to utilize our combined strength with optimum efficiency and in a results-focused way,” says CFO Joachim Wimmers.
In order to make optimum use of the Group’s broad expertise and leverage inter-company potential, interfaces and collaboration were defined between the four business units. First Sensor offers its customers improved sector-specific communication and is able to provide complete solutions and also take on individual steps of the value chain. Central cross-departmental functions such as Product Management, Research & Development, Quality Management, IT and Human Resources operate across all of the business units. The plans for the new organizational structure were developed in close collaboration and with regular exchanges between the managers, co-determination bodies and employees to establish structures that are as effective as possible and immediately capable of delivering top operational performance. All employees of First Sensor AG will today be informed in detail about the finalization of the now applicable structures. In addition to this press release, all shareholders will also be told in detail about the changes at the Annual General Meeting on May 23, 2014.
