DGAP-News: First Sensor AG / Key word(s): Miscellaneous Corporate News, July 24, 2018 First Sensor equipped for further growth in Medical target market - Medical technology production sites confirm quality management in accordance with ISO 13485 - Increased demand for key products for breathing and ventilator solutions First Sensor AG, a developer and manufacturer of standard products and customer-specific sensor solutions, is setting the course for further growth in the Medical target market with the renewed ISO 13485:2012 certification of the German production sites in Berlin-Weißensee and Puchheim and the Canadian site in Montreal. This certification confirms the introduction and use of a comprehensive management system for the design and manufacture of medical products and testifies to the performance of the First Sensor production network with the current increased demand for highly sensitive and reliable pressure sensors. "Medical technology is subject to the highest quality standards because it saves lives every day. At the moment, we are seeing growing demand for key products such as the H series. For example, a Swiss medical technology manufacturer has doubled its demand for high-precision pressure sensors for ventilator systems, meaning that we expect a sales increase of more than a million with this customer alone in 2018. We now have the task of adapting our capacity in line with the increased unit volumes in order to cover the requirements of this and other customers. The certification is an important step in this context," says Dr. Dirk Rothweiler, CEO of First Sensor AG. In 2017, First Sensor generated EUR27.9 million in the Medical target market. Almost 20 percent of this was attributable to the H series. The company expects this product family to record growth of almost 50 percent in the Medical target market in fiscal 2018. First Sensor's pressure sensors are used in numerous medical devices such as ventilator devices, anesthetic devices, sleep diagnosis devices, sleep apnea therapy devices (CPAP), spirometers, and oxygen concentrators. The piezoresistive pressure sensors in the H series measure ultra-low pressures of dry, non-corrosive gases and are so sensitive that they can also be used in ventilator systems for intensive care of children and young people.
